Natural Colors For Textile
Before the synthetic dyes were innovated and developed for natural fabric like cotton, silk, wool, leather, paper and jute subtract in ancient time people were using the natural colour abstract from various botanical species using moderating agents to develop various shades in various pH and temperature and timing for curing to obtain fast colours.
Considering the hand process, semi machine process and modern machineries available in the textile processing industries, we worked in the laboratory to work with various option of dying and fixation conditions to obtain optimum value of Natural colours on the fabric.
We work on cotton and rayon fabric subtract in the laboratory with our NATRON brand natural colours with 100 % auxiliaries like levelling agent, washing off agent or dye fixing agents from natural resources.
We develop two type of dyeing methods as under
First treat the fabric with Aluminium sulphate 15% in case of exhaust or 150 gm/lt padding with 60% expression for any kind of dyeing option you prefer. Either you can dry by air drying method or mechanical drying on Hot dryers at 105 degrees Celsius.
DISSOLVING OF NATRON COLORS:
Take X gms Natron colour in hot water in 1:10 ratio to dissolve and stir it properly to dissolve if require heat at around 70-80 degree Celsius. and then add in the dye bath to make require dye liquor for any following applications.
Exhaust Method:
This method can be applied on Cotton Yarn and fabric, Rayon fabric in hand process to semi mechanised process in dyeing tub, jigger, or winch type equipment. At present we tried only on yarn and woven fabric and not any other quality of fabric but can be develop any cellulosic fibre/ fabric and natural fabric like wool and silk in the laboratory before the commercial trial.
Take
NATRON colour : X gms.
Levatron NLO : 10 parts
M : L ration : 1:5
Temperature : 80-90 degree celcius
Running time : 60 minutes.
After dyeing wash the fabric with hot water with 1-2 gm/l Syntrophor NPO to remove lose and unfixed Natural dyes and moderating agent from the fabric.
Now in fresh water add 40-50 gm/lt Fixtron NAF (for cotton ) and Fixtron NTG (for rayon) to achieve good washing and rubbing fastness.
Padding Method :
Take adequate water to make a padding liquor on the basis of material weight for 60 % expression of padding liquor for padding. The Natron color dissolve as per the method shown above and add to the water containing 10 gm/lt Levatron NLO (levelling Agent) before padding the ready for dyeing material ( Aluminium Sulphate treated )
Pad the fabric with 60% expression and 1.5 kg pressure and dry the fabric at 105 degrees Celsius and then cure at 130 degree for 4-5 minutes OR you can steam the wet fabric at 107-108 degree Celsius
For 12-15 minutes
Please wash the fabric with 1-2 gms/lt Syntraphor NPO at 60 degree Celsius.
Please Pad the fabric with Fixtron NAF ( for cotton) OR Fixtron NTG ( for Rayon) to improve rubbing and washing fastness.
Dry the fabric at 105degree Celsius.
Printing With Natron Colors On Cellulosic/ Rayon Fabric :
The following reciepe for printing on the treated fabric with Aluminium Sulphate Prepare stock paste as under
Natron Gum : 40-45 gms
Water : 955-960 gms.
TOTAL : 1000 GMS
Cook the gum in the hot water till it is gelatenised to ready for printing
Natron Colours : X gms.
Water : 5x X gms
Stock paste : Y gms
TOTAL : 1000 gms.
Dry The Fabric In In Air Or In Hot Air Machine
Fixtion of Natron Colors :
Either cure at 100-105 degree Celsius OR Steam in conventional steamer or continuous steamer at 105-106 degree Celsius temperature for 5-6 minutes.
After fixation of dye Natron Color please wash the fabric for degumming and removing of Mordenting agents and lose unfixed colors with 1-2 gm/lt Syntrophor NPO at 50-60 degree Celsius temperature and dry the fabric.
Please pad the fabric with Fixtron NAF ( for cotton ) OR Fixtron NTG ( For Rayon ) fabric to improve rubbing and washing fastness]
Key Notes:
Treatment of Aluminium Sulphate on the fabric and keep it overnight gives better results.
In the following shade post treatment of Ferrous sulphate gives change in Dark shades.
NCC – 6061 and NCC -6071 (Black shades)
NCC – 6062 (Brown shade)
NCC – 6081 (Grey shade)
Some change in dyeing methods for following shades is On 15 % OR 150 gms/lt Aluminium Sulphate treated fabric please treat 5% or 50 gms/lt Copper sulphate before applying the colours.
- NCC 5011 Natron Yellow GY
- NCC 5012 Natron Yellow R
- NCC 5013 Natron Yellow G
- NCC 5014 Natron Yellow BL
- NCC 5061 Natron Brown BL
- NCC 5062 Natron Brown GY
For only in INDIGO shades for reduction you have to use 2.5 gms Lime and 2.0gms Sodium Hydrosulphite of soda – Hydro (No natural product available), after dying with any methods either Air oxidation OR with 2 % Hydrogen Peroxide treatment at 60degree Celsius.
Storage Should be done under roof and dark places, avoid light to maintain storage stability. At the time of withdrawal of the dyes from the packing seal the packing properly tight after. withdrawal of dye. The powder withdraw for dyeing should not keep open to air till you dissolve in hot Water.
Our laboratory experience that cotton yarn dyeing gives much higher colour value compare to fabric dyeing.
As we don’t have grey scale to measure we didn’t study the rating of light and washing fastness but it’s satisfactory. We cease our responsibilities of dye fastness para meters, we recommend to take laboratory trials and fastness property study.
The Following code of Natron series is based and develop on following metal salts as a mordent to develop the shades.
- 1000 series Without mordanting agent
- 2000 series Magnesium salts
- 3000 series Nickel salts
- 4000 series Cobalt salts
- 5000 series Copper and cuprous salts
- 6000 series Ferrous and ferric salts
The above data is guide line for the user if they find some reduction in strength of the NATRON colours the can use 5% of above salts to regain colour value.
The above data and information are based on our laboratory trial and studies, wedo not give any guarantee, customer should take the laboratory trials and confirm and approve the products before Industrial use for bulk productions.
